Transfer license to a new computer

Hello all,

I just purchased a new computer and want to transfer my Microsoft Office license to the new computer. How do I do that? Can someone send me step-by-step instructions?

The activation process keeps track of number of times you have used a product key. If this is your 4th installation you may get message saying you can't use this product key. Make sure you uninstall from one of the other machines. If it won't allow you to activate, you will have to do a phone activation and tell the service rep that you have uninstalled from one of the previous machines.

    1. An installation dvd/cd has no hidden/system file
    2. You will likely need a drive at some other stage
    3. The license is for 3 working PC's, not 3 installs. If a PC is dead there is no license in use

    No, its not legal and try using openoffice if you cant find the disc, its free and you can also create pdf's using it.

    Why are things made so difficult and troublesome for the majority who are simple users?

    Just can't understand why make things so difficult.

    Why, because computers are a "relatively" new technology Well, new technology requires time to be developed to the point that it is 'simple' to use by "the average user".

    And we still want our computers to "do everything". It is not simple to make a "general" tool be easy to use. A hammer is a simple concept, it is a tool to bash things with.  But there are literally hundreds of specialized variations on hammers.   A wrench is a simple tool to twist a single size of nuts or bolts. But if you want to be able to work on multiple nub/bolt sizes either you need a toolbox full of metric and imperial wrenches and "socket wrenches" or you need a more complex tool like an "adjustable" wrench. But then you have to understand how to adjust the wrench size, and if you get it wrong you will "strip" the nut or bolt.

    On the computing side, a "digital" watch has a simple computer. It does one thing (relatively) well, it tells you the time. You can buy one for a dollar or two. 

    You can buy a key chain fob-sized, 4 function (add subtract multiply divide) calculator, also for a dollar or two. It can do the addition of the prices on your shopping list, it can then calculate the additional 'purchase' / VAT taxes you will have to pay.

    Bottom line, electronic computers are only so complex because they are built to be so "generic".

    Hi, I have a question regarding MS Project 2010. I purchased a new laptop and want to transfer MS Project 2010 from my old laptop to my new laptop but the thing is I've lost my installation disc and the serial number along with it. My question is can it be done and is it possible to be done without the serial number and the installation disc? can you please clarify to me more on these and the way to maybe identify the serial number from my old laptop..thanks and regards
