Unable to Use Crop Handles in Publisher 2010

I recently upgraded to Publisher 2010.  I know they redesigned the crop feature (with fit and fill), but I cannot seem to do a simple crop.  When I click on "Crop", the crop handles appear momentarily on the selected object, then disappear, and the standard resize handles (white dots) reappear.  Hope this makes sense.  It seems like there is a simple answer/solution - I'm sure I'm missing something.  Thanks in advance for your help.

The crop option is the same as it has in all versions of Publisher with the exception the cropped part is visible. Right-click your image, click on the crop symbol. It is also on the ribbon when you click on Picture Tools.

You cannot crop drawn autoshapes unless you convert them to pictures.

I don't know why your crop handles appear then disappear. Does this happen on all pictures? If you re-insert the troublesome image, do the crop handles work?

    So glad this fixed your problem but I can't take the credit.  It was my client who found the issue.

    This is definitely something that MS needs to address.  MS - finish what you started and upgrade all your programs to work with Windows 7!

    SADell!!  You are the man/woman!!  You are right - I uninstalled MapPoint 2010 Europe and cropping works as expected immediately - no restart needed!

    We all knew this was a bug that, as usual, Microsoft completely ignore!!

    Come on MS, do the right thing and fix this please!!

    I am hoping this information will help some of you having this "crop" problem.  A client of mine had 3 installs of Publisher 2010.  Two of the installs worked just fine and one didn't.  He was having the exact same issue described by ryanholliday.  He even had several sessions with Microsoft support going through the repair, the uninstall/reinstall, etc.  While on the phone with tech support for MS, my client remembered that he had installed Microsoft MapPoint on the problem computer after installing Office Professional Pro 2010.  He uninstalled MapPoint and low and behold the crop tool in Publisher works like a charm.  The MS tech support guy was very quiet and simply said that it was possible that the MapPoint program had not been upgraded for Windows 7 and there could be a conflict between something that it installed or needed to work that caused Publisher to stop working.  Anyway my client is now happy.  It might be worth checking to see what was installed after Publisher that could be causing the issues for some of you.

    Any news on this glaring bug MS?  I have done a clean install and cropping still doesnt work!!
