Errors were detected while saving file in Excel 2010

I have been having a very similar problem, I can save my spreadsheet using the quick save, but after printing them and then trying to save again, I am getting messages "errors were detected etc - make repairs, - then a pop up can't find file, then file corrupt - it only seems to happen after using Page Lay out or Print settings - very strange as had no problems with Excel 2007

My encounter with this error is with Excel 2007 SP2

Error resulted in unrepairable errors in the workbook.

Characteristics of workbook

• 20 worksheets
• references between the various worksheets
• a few charts, one copied from another workbook, although I believe all data for the chart was local to the sheet on which it was placed.
• one of the sheets with a pie chart was duplicated, but was not associated with data beyond the scope of the worksheet itself, no named ranges, etc.
• No Pivots
• No External Data Sources.
• a few named ranges (less than 10)
• some merged cells

Initial Recovery Attempt

• "Limited Save" resulted in a loss of all the graphics and intersheet formulas

Successful Recovery

• Removed the graph that had been copied in from another workbook
• Then, Sheet by sheet:

--Selected all cells in the sheet (not "Select all" or CTRL-A, rather clicked on the upper-leftmost widget to select all cells in the sheet

--CTRL-C  to copy

--CTRL-V to paste

• Interestingly, the full paste Unmerged previously Merged cells. could be co-incidental, but thought I should mention it.
• Saved to a new file. (may not have been necessary, but wanted to hold on to the last successful save point in case it failed.)
• Have been working with the file and saving it without error.

My two cents

• I believe copying and re-pasting the cells forced a "re-resolution" and "re-calculation" of the formulas, with worksheet and range references.
• The unmerging of cells was a meddlesome but tolerable side effect. I may have been able to avoid this, but need to move on...

Do you get this error message while saving a specific Excel file or all Excel files?

Verify the same with a new Excel file.

Try to save the file to a different location and verify the status.
