Can't open Word File because of end tag/start tag mismatch error...need XML help!

I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need

The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag

Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760

I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

You're welcome Catherine.

Going forward if you or anyone else comes across this issue again, we have a FixIt solution created that should address this problem.  You can go to the following KB article and it should give you the details about how you can correct these documents.

You seem to have got in a bit of a mess - I have extracted a document from your zip file and fixed it - let me know if this is the wrong one!

    Hi guys,

I have an important document which i was supposted to deliver today. It has worked all the time untill now.

    Error:

"The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag

    Location: Del: /word/document.xml, line 2, 96384."

I have renamed the docx to zip and extracted document. Im not skilled in xml, so I would be thankfull, if anyone with knowledge, could look into my error in the word/document.xml doc.

My document has been uploaded to: http://uploading.com/files/3e887c5e/docx%2Berror.zip/

    Best regards. Andreas

Thank you Brandon, I appreciate your effort.

What happened is my mistake, I had a trial office 2007 in my PC and it was expired couple of weeks ago. Today I  installed a new version of office 2007, but I did not uninstal the old version. Today,  I worked al day on this file and saved it, later when I tried to open it I could not open. It was giving me an error like "you do not have a permission to open this file, contact administrator". I think 2 office installation conflicted each other:(
