Can't open Word File because of end tag/start tag mismatch error...need XML help!

I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need

  The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag

Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760

I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

Going forward if you or anyone else comes across this issue again, we have a FixIt solution created that should address this problem.  You can go to the following KB article and it should give you the details about how you can correct these documents.

    The oMath end tag and part of the equation was misplaced after the AlternateContent end tag. See here for fixed filehttp://www..mediafire.com/download.php?wkcahzoc8799h3i

    I got the same Problem with my 17 pages word document full of complex formulas and now I cant open it anymore ._.

    So I changed the .docx file to .zip and tried to figure out whats wrong with help of the XML-editor "XMLShell". When I validate the document I got the error "End tag 'mc:Choice' does not match the start tag 'm:oMath'." But I dont know what to do now...

    I did say I didn't know what 'public' meant in Microsoft-ese! I can understand they don't want anybody and everybody raising bugs but why they shouldn't be viewable I don't know.

    I understand Microsoft being scared of having public bug reporting places being swamped with questions from users not understanding how some things work and thinking they are bugs. But honestly, the current way of bug reporting is totally inadequate.
