I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

The document is corrupt. If a standard Open and Repair is not sufficient, you can attempt to use the rebuilder template created by Tony Jollans:

Just save the template, open it, ensure that macros are enabled, then check the Rebuilder tab and follow the steps. This Rebuilder is largely targetted at oMath errors and the Equation Editor, but it is the best place to start.
If that doesn't resolve the problem, post the corrupt file into a public access file download location like Microsoft SkyDrive or 4Shared and post the location back here. There are a few talented individuals that can attempt a manual repair for you.

Microsoft is looking into the problem and you can follow this issue on my blog (http://blogs.technet.com/b/wordonenotesupport/archive/2011/03/24/error-when-opening-a-word-2007-or-2010-document.aspx), where I hope to have updates as they become available.
There are some issues with equations and textboxes that is being investigated, but I don't know what specifically was done with pages 7 and 8 to get it into the problem state. If I remember correctly, I think I just changed the equation to be inline. The tricky part with this issue is that it's not always the same thing that corrects them.
If you do come across the issue again, post here or on the blog and we'll see what we can do to help fix the issue.
