Can I install the cat office assistant in Word, Excel, etc in 2010. Miss my kitty

Tsk tsk.  Such manners.

The "you" you're berating here is NOT Microsoft. 

We're all just office users like you.  Some of us choose to spend time here helping others. 

And for better or worse, the Ribbon's alive, the cat's dead.  If we want the advantages of the newer versions of Office, we have to get over it.  Or stick with the old version.  And keep the cat.

Yes We will keep the old version of Microsoft Word and the new one sucks!

I was disappointed to learn that they were gone too.  Not that I used them for help, but I used them in PPT presentations.  My audiences loved to have the Genius come out and talk to them, walk across the screen, etc...  It made them fun.  That was my use... and for the guy that continues to say, "learn to use the program..." I say, "learn to program the Genius".

I miss my Office Kitty too!  Why would they not include it in the update?  He made my workday.

I agree!  I looked forward to the little antics of the dog or cat.  If you right clicked on them, they would perform little antics.  It was a little bit of fun and light brought to the computer.

The last version of Office to have the Office assistant as Office 2003. If you like Office 2000 and it does all you require of it then continue to use it, though there will be no more updates for it. Office 2003 is no longer available and current versions do not use assistants but rely on help - much of which is on-line.

However Office 2000 is not compatible with Windows 7.

Office 2007 was (and still is) available to download, though new product keys are not available. If you purchased via a download, then you would have been sent a product key by e-mail. If you can recall the account used to purchase it you can also re-log into that account to obtain it.

If it was installed on the old PC (the one with Windows XP) then you can recover the key from that key from the PC using Belarc Advisor - http://www.belarc.com/free_download.htmland the download files can be obtained, using the key from http://www.microsoft.com/office/downloads/

As for a refund on Office 2010. If you have also purchased that product see http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/productrefund/refund.mspx for eligibility criteria.
