I am trying to embed a video from youtube directly into my powerpoint presentation. Under the insert tab and video pull down list, I have the option of "video from file" and "video from clipart", but the option of "video from website" is there in the pull down menu but I can't "click" it. The option is "greyed out" please help ty.

Flash Player 10+
Windows Media Player 10 or higher
32-bit Office 2010

I have "good news." Today Adobe announced that they are in beta testing for 64-bit editions of Adobe Flash Player. Adobe has/had to make a plugin for Internet Explorer 64-bit, in order for PowerPoint 2010 64-bit to "embed video from website." Oracle/Sun/Java also has/had to make a 64-bit plugin for Internet Explorer 64-bit.http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml

Just so you understand something: 64-bit vs 32-bit has nothing to do with lower/higher quality. MS introduced the 64-bit version primarily to cater to Excel users with spreadsheets the size of Sibera when printed in 6-pt Arial Narrow.
Other than that, installing the 64-bit version buys you nothing but incompatibility. That's why even MS recommends the 32-bit version unless you specifically need huge spreadsheets and are willing to put up with the other inconveniences it brings.
Strictly speaking, the 64-bit version isn't less functional. It's simply not compatible with some external programs, some from MS, some not, that PPT uses to deal with certain types of data. Flash, for example, relies on a player from Adobe; the player isn't available in a 64-bit version that supports embedding so you can't embed Flash.

You are not using 32-bit Office. NO, YOU CANNOT EMBED YOUTUBE VIDEOS IN THE 64-BIT VERSION OF MICROSOFT OFFICE. Actually, it's more accurate to say NO, YOU CANNOT USE THE INSERT VIDEO FROM ONLINE WEBSITE IN THE 64-BIT VERSION OF MICROSOFT OFFICE.
Note that using Insert | Video | Video from Website (like YouTube) doesn't actually embed the video. You use the embed code, but it LINKS to the YouTube site. You need to have a live internet connection for this thing to work. (In the 32-bit version of Office, that is. I repeat, it will NOT work in the 64-bit version of Office.)
As was mentioned elsewhere, you can convert the YouTube video to some video format that is embeddable, like WMV or AVI or MPEG or whatever and embed that by using Insert | Video | From File. And *that* video can actually be embedded into PPT 2010, not just linked.
