SOLUTION TO ERROR " Your network access was interrupted. To continue close the database and then open it again." __

This fixed it for me...

I just had this issue today. Windows 7 client running MS Access 2010 trying to access a shared database that is stored in a network folder that is located on a 2k3 sp2 server on our domain.

I knew it had nothing to do with the network as I had just added the network folder to the client machine and could see the files inside the folder. I could also RDC to the server from the client, and had internet access on the client. This same client computer was on our domain and other users were able to log onto it and had no problems accessing the database, so it was user specific as well.

The fix (I did) to get it to work was in perfect MS form, I right clicked on the file > open with > MS Word... and told it to always open with that program. I then unsuccessfully opened the database with MS Word and proceeded to close Word. I then right clicked on the file again > open with > MS Access... and told it to always open with that program. It opened normally.

Another (side) tip: When I right clicked and selected 'open with', there was nothing in the list besides MS Access. I 'browsed' to ...\program files\MS Office\blah-blah-blah until I found something that was an application I could select (I don't recall the exact name of it). The list then came up with several MS applications for me to chose from.

I solved the issue by creating a copy of the file with the issue (right-click Copy, right-click Paste), tried opening the file and it work perfectly fine.

Yesterday I faced this same problem, and I was not able to find anything useful in the Internet. I got it SOLVED! so I write here to share my case and solution:

The reason why I was getting this misleading error message was THE USER running my application: My application is a SERVICE, so user is not the one logged on the computer, but, according to the task manager, user is SYSTEM.

My service is written in Java, and it was trying to connect to a MS Access 2007 .accdb database, getting the error message "Your network access was interrupted. To continue close the database and then open it again".

If I run my service changing "log on as" from "local system account" to "this account" and I enter the user & password used to log on Windows, the problem disappears! As you see, it has nothing to do with closing database and opening it again, and it has nothing to do with network access interruption. An ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED (0x5) would have been much much clearer...  ;-)

I have an user with Windows XP SP3 / Access 2010 version 14.0.5128.5000 (32-bit) who got this error message today while using a database on a mapped server drive.

He uses this database every day and this is the first time he has received the error message. His laptop is docked - i.e. network cable hard wired - so there should not be an issue with his connection to the mapped server drive.

After we ran the Compact & Repair function, the user reported a table and several queries were missing, which we were able to restore from a backup copy of the database.

This is the first time we have encountered this error message so I am just looking for information and possible causes/resolutions.
