How do you report a product bug to Microsoft?

What makes you think Microsoft is even aware of this problem?

Even if someone from Microsoft saw this thread, do you think they just pick up their internal phone, call the developers* and tell them that they need to fix webpage X, instead of whatever they are currently doing? This is not how it works.

*) locating whom is probably very nontrivial process in itself

I'm a bit flabbergasted! Here millions of people are paying for a subscription service and Microsoft has no formal feedback mechanism for reporting bugs? Really?

It is now December 20, 2016 - more than 6 1/2 years since this problem was first reported - and Microsoft has done NOTHING to resolve or fix their system for problem reporting and resolution.  It is simply one example of a much more important problem.  It reveals the depth of Microsoft's arrogance and disdain for everyone paying good money to use their products.  They think their future is with large organizations (e.g. corporations) who pay to use their products and not with individuals.  But, like IBM, all of these entities are made up of people and these people recognize Microsoft's arrogance and disdain.  They will become part of the wave that will overcome and drown Microsoft.  It is already happening.  Too, bad, Microsoft - like IBM - could have done much better for the entire world.

I just got off the phone from Microsoft "support" for Office 365. After spending 45 minutes JUST trying to find out how to submit a bug in Excel 2016 to Microsoft, know what this support person said? "Unfortunately, at this time we do not have a way for you to submit a bug to Microsoft for Office 365 products."

Wow! I am so impressed by the quality of service exhibited by the world's largest and richest software company.

Maybe you could share these 'broken features' with us, they could be broken but perhaps not. I think if you do post here it will be seen by an MVP and I understand these people have a reporting system

Unfortunatly you're correct Sly. At MSFT the various product groups have a choice of how they collect information from the public and internal users for that matter. Connect is one of those choices but Office, as you've noted, is not using it.  Looks to me as if they are using their own through http://support.microsoft.com.

The whole Microsoft problem reporting system is incredibly arcane and sophomoric.  Maybe they could check with real software companies and mimic the way their problem management systems.

I was a systems software and software development professional for most of my career and worked for many prominent companies.  It seems to me that Microsoft's approach to problem management is intentionally confusing to divert customers and prevent a clear understanding of the quality of their software from being easily and commonly apparent to all.

And it's taken you this long to work that out? The approach is to deny everything, then if it's proven, to call it a feature, and then to remove it in the next version with the comment "it didn't work properly so we removed it".
