IMAP is not working now that Spectrum.net has eliminated the webmail access. They say it is a Microsoft problem.

After months of no issues, starting in Feb we experienced interruption in incoming and outgoing Spectrum emails via "New" Outlook. Most days messages did not arrive; isolated times emails came through. Sending did not work. I could not change the email account settings because of the Microsoft requirement of a system password, which apparently does not exist. Advanced and manual account setup did not work for the same reason. I tried dozens of things, none worked. No consensus as to what caused it. The Spectrum email account we manage with Mozilla Thunderbird has worked fine without interruption, so this issue has to relate to Microsoft/Spectrum. One or the other did something that caused this mess.

My workaround which has worked for the past 3 days was to revert back to Classic Outlook. Once I overrode the IMAP email account settings emails came through and emails could be sent. I used:

IMAP, mail.twc.com, 993, SSL/TLS

SMTP, mail.twc.com, 587, STARTTLS, authentication required

I had to export/import contacts, which was not as straightforward as one would expect with both being Microsoft products.

Our Spectrum email accounts began as a roadrunner account (RR.COM), then Time Warner, then Spectrum. This has not been a satisfactory journey.

I downgraded from Windows 11 to Windows 10. Outlook will NOT accept my credentials. Just hung up with Spectrum and was told that I have entered all the server settings correctly. There's an SMTP password box that I cannot change, and have no idea what that is. Might that be the problem? The agent I spoke with also told me it's an Outlook issue. Does anyone have a fix, or advice? The webmail is a pain in the neck to use :(

My issue was, i can receive emails, but not send any.

BTW, it is partly microsoft because they have added more security. Spectrum does not wish to comply and they no longer support 3rd party email clients at all. so it is mostly Spectrum issue.

i just setup everything in 1st post this morning and it is woirking great. BTW use the outlook classic. the outlook new is not very good in my opinion.

i forgot something. if using PC, find your spectrum email folder (usually placed in your "My Documents:" folder, move the email file and rename it. then setup gmail in outlook. once that is completed and you forward all your spectrum emails to gmail in webmail for spectrum, you can go open outlook, go to file>account settings>account settings>Data files tab>add your old spectrum outlook file where you moved it and you will have all your old spectrum emails too!!

I have Edge & there is a mail link top left which takes me to Spectrum to get my mail. There is another mail link top left that goes to outlook Hopes this helps.

I got POP working for a couple of weeks. Now nothing. Same BS from Spectrum. Not allowing any 3rd party mail apps. Not giving anyone a spectrum email address anymore. Maintaining old spectrum addresses on their spectrum.net site only. SUPER PISSED OFF AT SPECTRUM. 20 years with same email address now I need a new one.
