Removing Copilot from Outlook email

UPDATE 28Apr2025: I renewed and changed my subscription to Microsoft Personal Classic and that *seemed* to eliminate Co-Pilot. For how long? Who knows? But at least now its no longer showing up on my emails. Thank you to everyone who shared my frustrations and who offered suggestions.

How do I remove Copilot from my Outlook email (and all other applications for that matter)? I have a 5 year old MacBook Pro. I use Outlook (Hotmail account) and all of a sudden CoPilot has appeared when I start writing or replying to emails. I do NOT want it. I do NOT need it. It is VERY distracting and I want to disable and/or remove it. Any advice would be most appreciated. I tried searching online but could not find a suitable answer. Thank you.

I do not know if I have the New or Legacy Outlook.

Comrades, I've written tens of thousands of email messages over the past 20 years for work. Outlook is part of the requirement in this process, though I also use other services. After over 20 years, I'm done with it because of two things "copilot" and "editor." I even took MS's advice and downgraded to the "classic" form of MS-365 (NOT to be confused with MS-13 or MI6) to be rid of copilot. Nevertheless, these infuriating "features" remained unchanged, nagging me with every word I typed. Not only that, but "editor" would flag American spellings as misspelled, which is fine, as I usually use British spellings, but then would flag British spellings as incorrect style! Not THAT's helpful, eh?

Anyway, I figured out a workaround that works for me. I've had a Yahoo! Mail free account since 1998! I simply synched the Outlook account to the YM account. Now all of my Outlook sends and receives go to the YM queue with all of the garbage removed, but sends still retain the Outlook address. A word about YM: I've had this account that long. It's been great. The only time it was not great is when they punished us for using an advert blocker to get rid of the right-hand sidebar ad. It forced us back into a primitive 1990's version of the interface. We complained bitterly. Instantly, that restriction was removed. I don't mind getting a few email line ads in with my regular mail. By the way, YM's spam blocking is extremely good. Even with my account being in over 30 historic breaches (including YM's biggest ever), and almost 30 years of exposure, I still get very little spam in my main box. It very neatly collecting in the spam box, for my amusement apparently, and the filters of regular spammers are easily customizable. The maxim is that for every violation of our trust and privacy there is a work-around waiting to be used to squash it!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE enable users to disable Co-Pilot in all programs. I know why you do not, you want to develop it by our use. However, it distracts and takes unnecessary time. I am not employed by Microsoft to develop its software. It costs me time - and therefore money

I don't think they care about our business, all about control and return on investment.

Copilot is like ISIS - Israeli Secret Intelligence Service, stealing our freedoms and turning the world into Gaza 2.0. First, they invade our emails and then they're knocking on our doors to take away our guns and freedoms.

Copilot is like a stalker-X, doesn't take a hint and cannot be turned off or deleted.

I don't want to go back to the CD's (if that's even possible). But they are giving us no choice, can't even turn it off, like the Terminator pursuing Sarah Connor.

Don't like the Copilot? Well, we have a "coach" right here to help you finish your sentence with his keen red-left-eye and perfect Terminator grammar. Were you able to dismiss him, temporarily? Well, he said, "I'll be back."

Wait.... CD's? Is that still an option? Tell me more, because I absolutely hate the subscription thing.

I agree. I've been thumbs up/down rating with comments, and hitting (left top line menu) - feedback.

It's altering to match my suggestions. So creepy/ And so poorly done. They really are spying on us.

So, his this my personal cadet that I can train to do silly things?

Or, is this a borg droid, and mucking with it might corrupt the whole system.?

New button adds new features. great. That is the opposite of my request.

    Good luck.
