How do I permanently turn off Copilot prompts in my Outlook.com webmail messages?

Having to deal with this message every time I want to send an email is a pain in the ****!

I was completely blocked from even replying to an email because the copilot draft widget wouldn't budge. I did discover a couple of workarounds for that before I tried the uBlock extension. If you start to compose an email, open it from the Drafts folder. The copilot widget will not be there. You can also select a person you want to email from your Contacts and click the email icon in the Contacts window. The copilot widget is not active in that basic email either.

SOLUTION - Thanks to the various people who pointed this out, but I have just followed it and it seems that when my subscription next renews the alleged AI features will be turned off.

• Go to your Microsoft 365 account
• Access your subscription
• Select to "Cancel" the subscription

You are then offered the option to save £30.00 and remove the pointless (in my opinion) features...

Note: The "Try Draft with CoPilot" is still there in both webmail and using the windows mail app - but fingers crossed it will go when my subscription renews.

Thanks. When I went to the site to do that, it says that the change won't take place until my renewal date. To get rid of Copilot immediately, do I actually need to fully unsubscribe and start over again? I don't even mind paying the extra for the rest of my current subscription term. I just want the Copilot turned off when I'm writing emails!!!

Unfortunately, I don't think that downgrading or cancelling your subscription will get rid of the annoying Copilot prompt in your email. After all, even non-subscribers can get an Outlook account for free. All we can do is keep complaining about it until Microsoft listens.

For those of you who are old enough to remember "Clippy" - it may take quite awhile for MS to stop annoying us. (It took them four years to retire that awful idea.)

If you're using Firefox for Outlook webmail, there is a solution posted by RichardAU which I commented on yesterday February 5 and it's very simple to do. I don't think the uBlock Origin extension works in all browsers, but it's worth a try.

I also posted a couple of workarounds for avoiding the copilot draft widget in our emails. Once you hit reply to an email, you can open it in the Drafts folder and compose your email from there without the copilot widget.

I too will be downgrading my subscription to Personal Classic when my renewal comes up in April. It's a little unclear if Classic will eliminate copilot in Outlook webmail, however they put it in there and they're charging for this feature in the other apps, so I'm assuming when I downgrade to the Classic subscription, Outlook will go back to its former operation.
