How do I permanently turn off Copilot prompts in my Outlook.com webmail messages?

I understand that you keep seeing the “Try Draft with Copilot” prompt when you reply to emails on the Outlook.com web page and you want to turn it off.

 

I'd love to help you, but unfortunately this is not a promotional message, but a feature for the web version of Outlook, which is only available to Outlook accounts with a Microsoft 365 subscription, and there is no option in the web version of Outlook to turn this feature off.

Therefore, you should have subscribed to Microsoft 365. We recommend that you contact chat support to learn more about how to turn off Copilot.

 

1. Open this link Contact Us - Microsoft Support.
2. Select Microsoft 365. Select personal and families, input “Office” and click “Get Help”. When the results appear, scroll to the bottom of the page and select the Contact Support option.
3. Select Microsoft 365 and Office.
4. In Categories, you can select Technical Support and confirm it.
5. Then select Chat with a support agent in a web browser.

I have a Microsoft 365 subscription, but this issue is wholly unrelated... The unwanted prompt is turning up in the free webmail when I sign in to my hotmail account in my browser. The intrusive nature of the Copilot messages in hotmail is SHOCKING and totally unwanted, uncalled for, unnecessary, unrequired. Please could you feed back to Microsoft that if this functionality is not made opt-in, I will be closing down my hotmail account but also cancelling my Microsoft 365 subscription and going elsewhere for software.

Foisting all this AI trash on paying customers shows a COMPLETE disregard for the end user and their requirements. Intelligent adults are perfectly capable of composing their own emails and the few that prefer AI assistance should be able to choose that as an optional extra. Pushing this on the rest of us is only going to drive customers away. Having a visual prompt that reappears on every line of an email is AWFUL, truly awful...

I absolutely , 100 percent agree. What part of the earth did Microsoft even try to test this feature out. It gets in your way when your typing. There is a button on the top right of the that would allow me to use CoPilot when I want to. Thats good enough. In fact I used it to get here to only find more run around and excuses. Very disappointing roll out process. Hope everyone voices their opinion all over the web. If I find an answer , will let everyone know.

But will the next generation have those brains? Or will everything be AI generated???!!!

Couldn't agree more. Very annoying to have it sitting in every email response. We have brains and can write our own emails.

MICROSOFT - WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?????

I am using the mail client that came with my Windows 10 machine, and as of today, when I reply to an email I get the horrific and invasive "Try Drafting with Copilot" - no thanks....don't want it, don't need it.

What I do need is the ability to turn off the offering of the "feature" and not have it appear on every single new line in an email reply that I am composing.

Please inform me of a solution as soon as possible.
