Am I hacked? (received an email from my own emailaddress)

Hi,

I received an email presumably send from my own emailaccount, subject 'You've been hacked' starting with

'I want to inform you about a very bad situation for you. However, you can benefit from it, if you will act wisеly. Have you heard of Pegasus? This is a spyware program that installs on computers and smartphones and allows hackers to monitor the activity of device owners. It provides access to your webcam, messengers, emails, call records, etc. It works well on Android, iOS, macOS and Windows. I guess, you already figured out where I’m getting at.'

Etc.

So the content of the email doesn't worry me, but what I can't understand is why the e-mail is send from my account. Or why it looks like it is send from my account. It doesn't show any other address.

When I check Source of the message, the following pops up, but this to me is jibberisch... Can anyone explain to me why it looks like I send this to myself and if I indeed been hacked or not?

    I've got exaaactly the same email this morning!

    Presumably, from my own account.

    Showed up straight away in the spam folder.

    Seems to be an automated (and widespread) blackmail attempt.

    At my age, not only is it very unlikely that I do "perverted things" in front of "questionable webpages", I don't even have a web cam!!

    I agree, it looks more like a Microsoft security problem, ever since so many Hotmail accounts are involved, and have been (allegedly) hacked.

    Or, maybe, somebody just bought a couple of millions of Hotmail addresses in the dark web and is looking forward to make his/her investment profitable.

    I would like to believe it's the Russian or the North Korean secret services, desperate to get foreign currencies to finance their upcoming, gloomy reigns of terror for human kind.

    Sounds more romantic than just a poor Pakistani immigrant in an obscure cyber-café in Dakhla, or a ruthless 14-year old scoundrel in a suburb in the British Midlands.

    Nonetheless, I've changed my password, of course.

    Hope everything gets fixed anytime soon!

    I received the same email but I do find a lot of unusual activity and unsuccessful sign in, since I enabled the Microsoft authentication, I also received that confirm if it’s you who is signing in, I rejected those and changed my password immediately.. no use, still I received the above mentioned email with same sort of details , please help.. not sure how to make them stop

    Same game just happened to me. How do I resolve it? Or contact someone at Microsoft 365? I just installed the app I paid for on August 13,2024. Then I was hacked on August 17,2024.

    Wish I never installed their software. My HP computer has been compromised even used the credit card I paid for the 365 with. I had to cancel the credit card and file a claim to have all the stolen charges reversed.

    I'm a very pissed 365 new user, and can't get any support for their obviously flawed 365 office software issue at their server? Unbelievable, they even got into my Facebook account, and hacked it and my cell phone. And now I can't get support to repair this mess from purchasing and installing their product. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO NOTIFY MICROSOFT I'VE BEEN HACKED??????

    Hello!

    I received the same email, and I reported the email as a concern, and it disappeared.Now I cannot retrieve the email and cannot check where it came from. So, I tried to change my password, but my account would not let me change my password, because I changed my phone number that is no longer in use.

    It keeps on displaying,

    "You can't access this site right now This site requires a security code to sign in. When your security info updates on 9/21/2024 you will be able to access this site. You can still access sites such as Outlook and Skype that don't require a security code." Is there anyway to change my password before 9/21/2024? Is there other ways to solve this problem? And why do I need to wait until 9/21/2024?
