Am I hacked? (received an email from my own emailaddress)

Hi,

I received an email presumably send from my own emailaccount, subject 'You've been hacked' starting with

'I want to inform you about a very bad situation for you. However, you can benefit from it, if you will act wisеly. Have you heard of Pegasus? This is a spyware program that installs on computers and smartphones and allows hackers to monitor the activity of device owners. It provides access to your webcam, messengers, emails, call records, etc. It works well on Android, iOS, macOS and Windows. I guess, you already figured out where I’m getting at.'

Etc.

So the content of the email doesn't worry me, but what I can't understand is why the e-mail is send from my account. Or why it looks like it is send from my account. It doesn't show any other address.

When I check Source of the message, the following pops up, but this to me is jibberisch... Can anyone explain to me why it looks like I send this to myself and if I indeed been hacked or not?

Thank you!

It is almost exactly what I received today and it is the second time this happens to my Hotmail account. The first time was few months ago, when I contacted Microsoft support an an agent was promptly responded and his response was it's considered a serious issue after he had contacted his superior. This time it happens again what leads me to cthink twi e about keep using Hotmail again.

We put our trust with Microsoft and expect Microsoft to value that.

    Thanks

I also received the same email with the same content via my own email account and it went to my spam folder. Unfortunately, there is no option to report it and delete. I changed my password, also checked the 2FA was also enabled. I also chcked my recent login activity: these are all from multiple countries but all these are unsuccessful attempts.

I have also clicked on signed out from other devices.

Now wondering what to do next???

Changing the passwords doesnt help a hacker spy on you for the long term. A spy will only give themselves away or strike when it is most opportune for them. Theyre in it for the long con generally.

I started to believe after the second time this happened to me in few months to stop at this point using hotmail especially I am very careful and cautious about hen it comes to cybersecurity.

Looks like Microsoft today is no more giving us the level of security we think especially hackers started to use AI and Microsoft seems a bit behind that concerning security.
