Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
After today's update, problem solved!
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
For several months now, when I click on links in emails from LinkedIn or Indeed, Outlook (new) opens two (2) tabs for the same link. Every time.
It does not do this if I switch back to the (Old) Outlook.
It does not do this if I open the same email/links in my Outlook 365 desktop application.
Since Microsofte embedded "safelinks" scanning, the Outlook (New) app has been a royal pain with links in emails, hiding links from view, and with this additional irritation, it seems that the development team have lost the plot.
My "Default" browser has no bearing on the result., it does it in Chrome or Firefox when set to default.
Switch to the old version of Outlook App, the issue goes away.
Forward an email to my priamary Outlook365 mailboxes... the issue is non existent...
By testing 3 versions of Outook with 3 web browsers, I only get the issue with the New Outlook App,... therefore I can only conclude that Microsoft have fudged this (New Outlook) version up even more.
*Note that for me it is only email links from LinkedIn and Indeed job alert emails and notifications, I have yet to find another platforms emails that are affected.
Are you getting any issues with these?
Lmk here if you find any other major platform emails too,
Ta!

Issue has stopped for me. So far I haven't seen any problems with Outlook, but I just started my day.
[edit] After an hour, I've had to kill New Outlook twice due to freezing with memory usage issue.
Same here. Issue has stopped but Outlook is frozen all the time and i have to close it via Task Manager. Same error notice (memory usage)
The double tabs have stopped for me today. However, accompanied by serious performance issues. I had to force close Outlook 4 times today already due to high memory usage.
I haven't received any linkedIn emails with a li nk that I could try.
I'm getting the issue with every link, In any email (Finance broker) so client emails with links to documents, bank emails with links to rate cards or calculators,.
I have to access broker sites that require authentication to log in, repeatedly throughout the course of the day, I used to be able to select for my device to remember me for so many days to avoid this.
Not any more! If you close the browser then you have to complete the authentication again, regardless of selecting to be remembered. If however I leave the browser open and logout, open a new tab before closing the prior tab, then it remembers me??!!
