Outlook isn't letting me resize an image. Used to click on the pasted image and drag the corner to size. Why make updates that make things more difficult?

UPDATE 09.20.2024

AGAIN, this issue has returned, and the previous work arounds don't work either.

This site is a message board, you need to contact MS directly to get this resolved.

I contacted Support, and they say they can't fix because the issue is on the server, so MS has to fix it.

Go into your Outlook app and select Help >Feedback > Report a Problem.

The problem is: Image sizing handles do not work, and images can no longer be resized when pasted in a message body.

Hoping they get flooded with these reports and the issue is resolved quickly.

SOLUTION 1 (09 20 2024):

Paste image into a MS Word document, where the resizing handles work, size the image then clip & paste it into the message.

SOLUTION 2 (09 20 2024):

I received another work around from Anthony in a post on this board . . .

Clip image >"Save As" onto hard drive> go to Outlook> select Insert>select picture> browse to location image is stored> select image and insert into message> At this point you have 1 chance to size it with the sizing handles, after that the sizing handles no longer work.

SOLUTION:

 Now to resize an image

1. Click to the right in a blank area so the image is NOT selected

2. Hold Shift Key down and then hit the Left Arrow Key and the resize handles will appear

    Yes, agree. Sorry to hear of your situation. I dont have Word cuz I dont pay for it.

    In Google Docs or Yahoo, etc., I resize it there, and then paste it in to outlook.com. It's seemed to work.

    You match my same situation exactly. Excellent description.

    I have an elderly brother with a smart phone. It's hard for him to search and scroll compared to my PC. He enjoys funny pix I send him. I would size them to fit his phone screen. Not so much fun now that they come through in a dozen sizes. Some overrun the screen, some are so small you can barely make them out.

    That's only one of several reasons that I need to manually size photos.

    Does anyone remember when you could crop off edges of photos in Outlook? That was useful to improve off-centered photos and huge backgrounds. That disappeared months ago and never did come back.

    Outlook for the web has no ribbon with Picture Format tab.

    This is maddening! I send emails with multiple images 20 times a day. You used to be able to grab the image and freehand the resize, as in Word.

    Then it changed to right-click, choose Size, then pick either large, medium, or small.

    Today I pasted one in and the only option on right-click, which selects the image, is "paste as image" which is what I just did.

    Selecting that does nothing, I'm in an endless loop, unable to resize it. Right-clicking in the body outside the image gives the same handlers.
    MS please fix this. Better yet, go back to the way it was when you could freely resize images, much quicker and more flexible.
