Cannot Get Mail The mail server "imap-mail.outlook.com" is not responding.

I finally got it fixed by deleting Outlook on my Apple Mail and then reinstalling it. A few things I had archived on Apple Mail were lost but everything is functional again. I noticed a warning about this change from Microsoft buried in my Outlook inbox and it had that instructions on that fix. I need to not ignore things in my inbox that seem unimportant at the time. Yes, I agree that there is not much support to help us with these changes that they require us to make to send and receive email. I think I saw an article where it said that they would stop giving support for this issue awhile back I think in July? I did not pay attention to it as I thought that it only applied to Microsoft on my pc..the irony is that my hotmail address still works with my pc but not with my iPhone or iPad, even with the changes made. I had to get a new email address with outlook..for my iPhone and IPad as I can no longer use my hotmail address that I used for many years with them..

So you might also have to change your email address for your iPad and iPhone if that is what you have..it looks like September 30/24 was the last day that we could still receive and send mail with hotmail.

I managed to keep a copy of my emails from hotmail on my iPad even though it is no longer active but at least I can still look at them if I need to..but so far I do not have a copy of my hotmail emails on my iPhone..it could be because of the older iOS 13.3.1 version on my 6S iPhone.

I spent the whole day on this issue and it is still not over with as I have to notify everyone of my change of email address..so I understand your frustration..hang in there and do not give up..maybe someone else can help you..have a goodnight.

GO back to your phone where you were trying to enter the incoming server information and under

IMAP Server enter outlook.office365.com

and under SMTP Server enter smtp-mail.outlook.com

Here is what I did and my notes were ok afterwards. Before I deleted my account, I moved all messages in ARCHIVE TO INBOX. I have an iPhone 6S with APPLE MAIL, went to SETTINGS, then MAIL, in Mail I went to ACCOUNTS chose what Account I wanted, DELETED the Account I needed to delete..ATERWARDS, I went back to Accounts in Mail and clicked on ADD ACCOUNT, chose OUTLOOK.COM then SIGNED IN by entering the same info needed for the Account that I had just deleted..after I had signed in, the Outlook page showed up with the name of the Account and Tabs for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, and Notes..then I chose which ones I wanted to be reactivated, showing in green and clicked at the Bottom where it says MAIL DAYS TO SYNC and CLICK on NO LIMIT This is what I did and everything works..Sometimes in Archive messages say can’t open because not downloaded from server but most are ok. I hope this helps someone.

By the way you can delete the account and re add it as many times as you feel satisfied that everything is ok..I have done this with 2 iPhones, one IPad..All is ok with Outlook and Windows 10 on my PC no need to change anything there.

After alot of trepidation I finally pressed the "delete Account button",I then went to add new account and picked Outlook.com, put my user name/password in,and hey presto I now have my emails back on my iphone,and I still have all my past emails there.
