I need help please to stop the new outlook from automatically installing and replacing my windows and calendar app. I have uninstalled the new Outlook 4 times today. Every time I launch the old mail and Calendar app the new outlook automatically installs without my permission. It stops me from using the old app. This is very annoying. I don't want the new app. Is there any way to stop this from happening? Your advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Chris

What worked for me was deleting the new Outlook's executable ("olk.exe") from "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.OutlookForWindows".

Once it's gone, it can't forcibly launch anymore when you open Windows Mail.

You first need to take ownership of the "WindowsApps" folder, then after deleting/renaming the .exe, restore the ownership back to "TrustedInstaller" (to prevent any potential issue down the line).

Uninstalling new outlook works...for a few hours, then, like a bad smell; it comes back. We all have tried this. You have to get under the hood (see above) and delete files and lock the folders so it can't re install. Done and works.

The 'screwdrivering' under the hood is mentioned previously seems to have worked, I still get the 'try new outlook' but I can hit 'try' or 'dismiss' and it won't open up, it's gone and hasn't come back for some weeks now. For me at least, new outlook has stopped bothering my work flow.

Why isn't MS adding to the conversation, and helping? They are silent. How do we stop Outlook New from constantly and repeatedly installing? I have uninstalled it every time it installs. Sometimes multiple times a day. As fast as I uninstall it, it reinstalls itself. Outlook New is awful. It is not ready for prime time. Why is MS forcing this on us, and constantly installing it, as fast as we uninstall it? Has NS not gotten the idea that we do not want it? It really screws things up, especially at sites with multiple computers on a network. Is there not a way to STOP Outlook New from repeatedly installing?

America is a lot like Microsoft right now. Everyone is forced to sign up for the "benefits" because they hold a monopoly on the product. Then the great "democracy" decides what they want to do with the product and we have no say in the matter. Oh and it looks like those democracy leaders decided to take away the thing we all use. The democracy leaders decide "Wow this Mail App really is the best email program design to date, we can't allow the people to have that". What pathetic dishonorable thieves. Where is the government balance to protect such gross unethical behavior from these companies? These companies are subject to the U.S. government, and the U.S. government is subject to the people.

Edit: And hey, If you're ever curious why they convert everything into "apps" now on your computer, it is because you cannot "purchase" or own the App itself, therefore it can always be "updated" and you have no say in the matter.
