I have twenty years of history in various .pst files. When I first started using Outlook, my single .pst file and all my folders got too large and I was instructed to move some of my folders into new .pst files. These .pst files contain lots of important emails and historic records attached to emails. So I filed all the emails into various folders within various .pst files.
If Outlook will no longer support .pst files, how will I be able to access the .pst files? I understand that Microsoft will no longer support “Old Outlook”. So what can I now do to be able to access these various .pst files? Should i go back to what I was doing originally and move everything from .pst files into folders within my "root" Outlook email? That would put about 4.5G of emails into my New Outlook. How will that work?

Problem is that "old" Outlook is not available - it will not accept my password. When I queried this with Microsoft, I was advised to move to "new" Outlook! So I'm stuck between the old one that doesn't work and the new one that isn't fully operational. What a mess!
I'm not sure if this conversation began with my questions but, since it's directly relevant, I'll reply.
I raised my concerns and questions regarding old & archived emails quite some time ago and, unfortunately, have received several versions of these instructions since then. While helpful, they don't in any way address my concerns. While I understand that Microsoft wants to move to a "more modern" data format than PST files, I've not heard of any facility or strategy that allows me to maintain the functionality of my traditional strategy. I maintain a 10-year history of emails that currently exist as 200GB of offline, archived PST files. Your 4th point seems to clearly state that's too much for new Outlook, based possibly on admin limitations but surely for the program to function. It's a lot of email data, so that limitation is certainly not surprising. Old Outlook offered a strategy - the use of offline PST files. What strategy exists to allow me to maintain my email record using the new Outlook?
Please don't send me yet another explanation of how to import PST files into new Outlook. Just tell me how to manage 200GB of email data.

Sorry I thought that by quoting the Moderator´s answer I´d get a reply from him/her and clarify the meaning of terms and actions with which I´m not familiar because I never had to worry about them, since I´ve always relied in my pst files to keep and retrieve many years of personal and work history .
You are not being clear for me. Will one move their .pst files "Back" into the old classic outlook, and then into the new Outlook, or just move the .pst files "forward" into the new Outlook?
