Hello Lisa Murphy3,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you received an unsolicited CAPTCHA. The following diagram illustrates the possibility of an unsolicited code.

If you just received an unsolicited code out of the blue, the odds are that someone incorrectly entered an address (whose address may be similar to yours) when requesting the code.

Please ignore the email for now and observe if you continue to receive such emails please let me know again.

Best Regards,

Jimmy Wang |Microsoft Community Support Specialist

I am getting the single use code daily. It has been nearly 3 months since your reply, Jimmy, and the comments maintain this is still an ongoing issue. Please confirm what Microsoft is doing to either remedy a coding error or instruct users how to shut these messages down.

I personally have reset strong passwords several times and have 2FA on where available.

I appreciate the alert when an accurate threat, but is starts to lose it purpose when not working properly. Can you provide further instruction?

    Thank you.

I keep getting the same one too lately. This has to be more than just someone incorrectly entering the wrong address.
