Events in New Outlook can not be edited, deleted, or created - events sent by others cannot be accepted.

This problem is solely with the calendar with no other features appearing to be impacted. Whether the event has invited attendees or is solely meant for the personal calendar it will pop up with the same error message of " Something went wrong. We couldn't save your calendar even. Waiting a bit might help. Keep your calendar event open to try again later. Resume editing"

Waiting a bit does not help, nor does trying to resume editing. It's been 2 full straight work days and I keep getting this error when making or editing an event. If I try to delete an event it just reappears a moment later.

I have tried clearing the outlook cache, restarting the computer, going to settings>apps>installed apps>outlook and repairing, resetting, and terminating. Web outlook for the new outlook refuses to synch to the desktop app and so does not work as a workaround.

I did not create this email so I don't have admin abilities to do anything that requires permissions and there is no one in the office with the permissions either. Using classic outlook is also not an option because like I said I don't have admin permissions and its just full of popups if I try to open it.

The only thing that has shown some promise is going to outlook settings>accounts>manage IMAP>remove>remove from this device>uninstalling outlook>redownloading outlook from Microsoft store>logging in with IMAP.

When I do this I am able to edit, delete, create, and invite attendees to events but only for 20 minutes and then the error starts up again and it's just not realistic to go through that entire process EVERY TIME an event needs to be made or edited.

As of 11/13/2024: After more than a week of this issue an update appears to have been released and things seem to be working so far after I did this

-->

On the bottom ribbon of your computer you'll see a magnifying glass and a tab that says search. Click that and type: "Check for Updates"

Which will open the Windows Update page in your settings and the update will likely be there in which case your can click the restart button.

I updated and my Outlook seems to be working as normal again with editing, deleting, and creating events.

    Hi Vivian,

Is there any update on this issue yet?

Users still have issues updating the calendar events in Desktop Outlook (Classic) and Outlook Web.

I have tested it with the test account and was able to reproduce the same issue.

It is frustrating for my users as they have this shared calendar which is shared among the number of staffs where they rely on the calendars for any upcoming events.

Here is the summary of the testing I have done:

    In Shared Calendar

    • Added an event in Desktop Outlook for Friday 15 12:30 to 1:00 PM - Test Sync issue 0
    • Refreshed the Outlook Web and the same event appeared on the calendar.
    • Edit the event in Desktop Outlook changes made are Friday 15 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM - Test Sync issue 1, waited for few second and noticed the changes made was reverted.
    • Edit the event in Web1 Outlook changes made are Friday 15 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM - Test Sync issue 2, Failed to update the event prompted with message "Something went wrong…."

    • Added an event in Outlook Web for Friday 15 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM - Test Sync issue 3
    • The same event did appear in the Outlook Desktop calendar.
    • Edit the event in Outlook Web changes made are Friday 15 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM - Test Sync issue 4, Failed to update the event prompted with message "Something went wrong…."

    • Edit the event in Desktop Outlook changes made are Friday 15 15:30 PM to 16:00 PM - Test Sync issue 5, waited for few seconds and noticed the changes made were reverted.
    • Deleted the event Test Sync issue 0 from the Desktop Outlook calendar
    • Refreshed the Outlook Web and the event was also deleted from the calendar.
    • Deleted the event Test Sync issue 3 in from the Outlook Web calendar
    • Refreshed the Desktop Outlook and the event was also deleted from the calendar.
