Just a heads up, Microsoft released an "update" to this scammy outlook(new) fiasco that changes the original mail app, so even if you use some hack to return to it, it will pop up a windows demanding you either export or use outlook(new) and locks you out of the rest of the mail app, even tho you will see that it is still working just fine in the background pulling down new messages and popping up new message notifications.
As another user stated, this is a class action waiting to happen in the USA, and under Australian law Microsoft has engaged in a /severe/ breech of the digitial safety act that prohibits unauthorised insertion, deletion or modification of a users private data - their email inbox in this case.
Can we get some laywers onto this? This is literally a 'gimme' microsoft has broken dozens of IT laws in HUNDREDS of countries by doing this.. any non-corrupt judge would drop the ban/criminal record hammer on this in about 8 minutes if it went to trial.
Literally Microsoft is engaging in illegal modification/insertion of data, and DoS'ing most low technical skill level users from ever accessing their email again. It would be different if the new fake outlook actually /used/ the inbox and settings from the email client, being actually useful, something it would take microsoft all of 10 minutes to implement, but no they decided to engage in a deliberate denial of email server campaign, which at best forces people to use something like thunderbird instead, and at its worst prevents most users from being able to access their old emails any longer - as the app is locked out and there is no easy way to bring up old messages afterwards.
If nothing else users should be entitled to compensation because many of them likely needed to hire a technician to setup their email again.
Like come on, if some hacker went out and crashed everyones mail, it would be instant jail time, Microsoft does it, and nobody thinks to even mention it to a lawyer?
