In the past few days, I've noticed if I tick emails in the Junk folder to "Report Phishing", they no longer go to the deleted folder. They disappear momentarily and I get the "nothing in junk icon, etc. but, if I go to the inbox and back to the Junk folder, those emails are still there in the Junk folder.

Has anyone here tried an alternative to Outlook ?

I used to be able to block the spammers domain under create a rule in Outlook and this worked great . You cant even do that anymore. Create a rule that moves the spammers domain to Deleted Items , the rule wont work , you just get a spinning circle besides the folder . Nothing happens .

It is very perplexing how this issue started in the first place and why it has taken this long to address. Do Microsoft employees not use Outlook? It's an annoying issue, and I get many spam emails every day, more than with any other email provider. I'm not sure their spam filters or reporting function work very well either.

    I'm having this problem, too.

A few weeks ago, I read that, starting in May, if we have the ability to unsubscribe to the junk mail, then the Report Phishing feature won't automatically delete them.

This is annoying to me b/c, while some Phishing mail comes tangentially from my online activity, most of it doesn't. And much of it is from entities that change their email address just slightly from all the other messages they send. I don't think I should be responsible for Phishing messages! It doesn't make sense.

At this point, I've resigned myself to deleting without Reporting. :/

Absolutely with you, same age bracket and started at home with Windows 3 - 3.1 - 98 and onwards to 2000, then letters "XP" then a year "2000" then back to numbers 8 - 11. Work was Windows NT.

I've just taken the plunge and changed my PC because it wasn't Windows 11 capable and Windows 10 reaching end of line.

I still have this Phish email problem, report it and it disappears from the list, but the number remains the same and it doesn't appear in the deleted list, leave it a short while or select a different folder and it reappears doh!!.

My phone is slightly different, report it and it disappears and it shows in the deleted folder (but on the PC it is still in Junk folder), again give it a short break and it reappears in the Junk folder - However if you see it in the phones deleted folder and are quick enough to do a permanent delete, it does it on both phone and PC.

And if I look at Junk email in settings it is full of randomised email addresses (aiuebuyeouef (at) oitgnbfviuerfin (dot) com on the block list, but what will acheive but add to the overheads on the systems.

As I said surely Msoft (and others) can look at an email as it comes in and if the displayed email is one like above or empty then just delete it rather than sending to a users Junk Folder.

I almost find it humorous, being the "Starter" of this thread OVER A MONTH AND A HALF AGO 236 AND COUNTING "People with the same question", 91 replies, MOST "WITH THE SAME ISSUE", 10 pages of replies and no significant response from Mcro$oft "VIP Advisors"!

It truly is like they don't care!

I recently got an Email notifying me of the "End Of Life of Windows 10". Almost wants me to consider taking the move to an APPLE Operating System. Micro$oft acts like they have us under their thumb and there is nothing millions of us as consumers can do about it.

I am going on 70 yrs. old. I've been into and building my own computers since the DOS days. My first Windows computer was like, 3.0 or,3.1. It was a motherboard laying in a cardboard box with no fans just a video card, a modem card and a power supply laying off to the side back in the mid to late '80's. Windows has been a good part of my life since. I am sure there are others with the same experience of Micro$oft and their sometimes-ridiculous Windows upgrades.

I have taken suggestions here to help eliminate the 10 to 30 a day "JUNK" emails.. I "Block Senders" and take the time to delete them from my Deleted folder because that's where they go but, like others have said, ... they just re-appear hours later.

Another **** of mine with Outlook, which has nothing to do with this thread but, so be it ... At the top of the "Deleted" folder is the statement "Items in this folder will be deleted in 30 days". If I don't MANUALLY delete them, I've had emails 2 months old stay in the folder!

Also, as others have stated, ... I have two other email accounts I have acquired through the years. NEITHER of those has the issue with SPAM like Outlook does! I just wish there was an easy way to FORWARD all the IMPORTANT TO ME emails to one of those accounts without all the spam and phishing emails following!
