Using classic Outlook for Windows in business environments
Mine lasted nearly 20 hours before it started doing it again. Sorry about the false hope.

I was happily using older version of Outlook on windows but a popup made to switch to latest version (pre) of Outlook or mail not sure what its called now.
I am able to receive and send emails using outlook flawlessly however the issue is these emails are not getting marked as read, temporary its read but very soon again shows as unread. I checked on web Gmail as well it shows as unread. I dont think this could be sync issue because I receive emails on time.
What is going on any idea?

LOL. No, it did not work . Now we can't even add Microsoft's own email to their new outlook. My Microsoft 365 email can't be added to the current iteration of the new outlook. Microsoft's handling of email just gets better and better with each passing day. I'm currently using Gmail for all 3 of my accounts now, and for the record I absolutely hate Gmail... it's just too busy for me. That's why I loved Windows Mail which of course, MS is taking from us, like they did with Live Mail. The big plus for Gmail right now, it works. The new Outlook does not, and continues to get worse.
OH MY GOD. YES.
It SEEMS it worked: I chose my gmail account as "main account", imported the data from outlook and then switched back, as main account, to my Microsoft account.
Now it seems it's working, but I will keep an eye on it in the next few days!
EDIT: No, it broke again. :(
I had this issue.
I clicked settings top right corner.
Clicked manage on my gmail account.
Import settings from outlook for windows -
Clicked "get started"
Problem solved. hope this helps.
Indeed, this is still an issue. :( it's annoying
