Email on Gmail account are not getting marked as read

I was happily using older version of Outlook on windows but a popup made to switch to latest version (pre) of Outlook or mail not sure what its called now.

I am able to receive and send emails using outlook flawlessly however the issue is these emails are not getting marked as read, temporary its read but very soon again shows as unread. I checked on web Gmail as well it shows as unread. I dont think this could be sync issue because I receive emails on time.

What is going on any idea?

    I prefer eM client - but I know a lot of people who like Thunderbird (and I have it installed for when I need to help them with something). It's free and is worth trying - if you don't like it try eM or mailbird.

    I know that Thunderbird and eM stay updated and support oAuth for POP and IMAP - I assume mailbird does as well.

    I tried Thunderbird two or three years ago, but back then it was too "busy" for my liking. I wanted something somewhat simple like Windows Mail (that actually worked). I tried a few others as well (BlueMail, Spark, Yahoo Mail, etc), each one had at least one showstopper for me. Anyway, I settled on Mailbird. I purchased the Business license ( one time $99) because of the number of accounts and devices I have. For me, it's well worth the money considering how much time I've spent over the years fussing over Microsoft's email "solutions.'

    What about Thunderbird, which do you prefer? I am actually looking for next email client

    Thanks for the input. I wouldn't hold my breath though... they been feeding me the same line for issues I've been having since 2015. My main issue was with Yahoo and Microsoft's cat and mouse game, since Yahoo wants everyone to use their app or webmail, so they can serve up ads. The interesting thing is that every 3rd party client I've tried, has handled Yahoo emails just fine. I didn't use them for various and different reasons. At one point, MS tried to blame me for a configuration error. That was right after I had purchased a brand new Surface Book 2, and I had the same exact issues as the other three systems I had that were running windows10/11 and mail.

    No matter, I purchased MailBird today, and have officially left Microsoft's sad attempt at email in my rear view mirror.

    Yeah same here, it seemed to work at first, but then it broke again, maybe it works for some mails, but not 100%.

    However I contacted the support and they told me they are aware of the issue and are working to solve it, however given that the application is still in an early stage, the don't know the ETA yet.

    At least it's something...
