Stop automatically installing the new Outlook

The source code excuse makes no sense. If different branches of source code were such a problem, you'd want as many people to move across as possible, as quickly as possible.

Baking scam ads and a subscription into your new platform does not make people want to switch, it makes them want to stay on the old platform, and if you force the switch, it'll make them migrate to a competitor. Nobody wants an email client that delivers fake emails.

So I've accepted the fact that they're killing the Mail app the day after tomorrow. I'm still not installing the new (nor the old) Outlook on my computer and will only use the online version when strictly needed. For now I'm fine with the generic Email app on my phone to check my mails. To the people at Microsoft that took this decision, I wish you the worst and hereby I cast a curse to you and the next three generations of your offspring.

But I wanted to stop getting replies from this thread, and when I finally found that the solution is to actually Subscribe (to the question I never subscribed to in the first place) THEN unsubscribe, I finally understood the whole joke that Microsoft really is.

I know very well how to migrate, as I know how to keep on running Windows Mail AFTER the end date. But I'm not sure that you, in any way, are an experienced user, but probably just an annoying brat.

Your arguments are **** crappy arguments with **** on it, and definitely doesn't hold up.

This has absolutely zero to do with maintenance, but is all about ads, data collection and misunderstood intentions.

They didn't have to kill the app, quite a lot of users are still running Windows Live Mail software on Windows 8, it is not dead.

And making an app/software into a PWA doesn't change maintaining the differences across devices.

Now stop wasting my precious time.

Thanks, but that didn't work, just keeps installing still after .json file removed, and once re-installed adds the .json file back into the same folder.

The way it functions now, I have to manually uninstall the Outlook (New) app every single time I want to open the old mail app, so to return to the topic at hand. As this is my computer, and not Microsofts, how do I stop this so I can use the software I want to use?

^ THIS is exactly the problem. As someone said, "they're helping us to migrate". No, they're not. They're forcing us to migrate by using some kind of malware procedure to keep downloading a product I did not ask for or want, despite me constantly checking that I do NOT want to use Outlook, and unstalling Outlook *every* time.

Now I have proceeded to install Mozilla Thunderbird on my 10+ Windows computers. Not overly happy as it certainly runs slower compared to the old Windows e-mail app, but still worlds better than Outlook with the scam ads pushed to the top and idiotic design. Anybody have suggestions for other 3rd party apps that run smoothly even on older hardware? It's certainly a bit of an issue for the slower of the bunch were the old app would open in seconds but Thunderbird takes considerably longer. I wish Apple's e-mail app was available on Windows, that would be awesome. Good, light weight, does nothing but what it's supposed to.
