Stop automatically installing the new Outlook

I'm not using "the new Outlook", I'm staying with the "classic Outlook". Since I don't use it, I have to delete the app. To my surprise, it re-installs itself after a period of time. It's super annoying since I have to keep deleting it How do I stop this from happening?

Instead of deleting the json files in that folder

    C:\Users<Youruser>\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Migration

I just edited all those files' values from whatever codes there are to "F_ck" (of course the real word, not a masked one). Then I edited those files to be "read-only". Now it has stopped auto installing.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

As of today, they have changed the way the new outlook is installed.

I haven't found out how yet, if someone can help me I will appreciate it.

    Just wanted to mention it.

    This app is borderline malware.

Edit: I found that if you uninstall it, when you launch the old mail app it unpins the old app, downloads the new outlook and pins it instead.

They have also changed the registry so you can't stop it from the registry editor.

    hi corey,

I deleted these files however after 10 seconds of using the old windows mail, outlook(new) had reinstalled itself again. What am I doing wrong? it was definitely the correct files as you stated above.
