Stop automatically installing the new Outlook

I'm not using "the new Outlook", I'm staying with the "classic Outlook". Since I don't use it, I have to delete the app. To my surprise, it re-installs itself after a period of time. It's super annoying since I have to keep deleting it How do I stop this from happening?

    Hello there,

    I'm just struggling with this outlook and the old way of uninstalling it doesn't work anymore. It keeps spamming the new install.

    Do anyone know how to stop this and just use the good mail app ?

    Considering I'm bad in coding

    this way kind of works...but sometimes it seems they install outlook again:

    1. uninstall outlook (I mad a powersell script. I also made a shortcut on the desktop to run it):

    #requires -runasadministrator

    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Where-Object {$_.Name -Like '*OutlookForWindows*'} | Remove-AppxPackage

    Write-Host "Press any key to continue..." -NoNewLine

    $null = $Host.UI.RawUI.ReadKey("NoEcho,IncludeKeyDown")

    2. create the outlook directory (in special apps folder) and remove all permissions to it. This involved:

    • taking ownership of the parent directory (in the dir's Properties->Security->Advanced tab)
    • (see below for location)
    • create the new "outlook" directory
    • remove inheritance (in the file's Properties->Security->Advanced tab) from the new directory
    • remove all "permission entries" (in the file's Properties->Security->Advanced tab) from the new directory

    the location of the outlook dir for me is:

    C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.OutlookForWindows_1.2024.925.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

    so first took ownership of : C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

    3. another solution I found involves installing another "fake" app with the same app id of outlook. Its on github.

    After Microsoft's update, since New Outlook is a Windows component, even if you uninstall it, New Outlook will still download back as soon as you update your Windows system next time. But Outlook and New Outlook can already be used in parallel in your system, so this will not affect your use of Outlook.

    That's not true at all because when you click on the old mail icon it redirects you to the new outlook and you can not run the old stuff!!!!

    Blatant lie!!!

    I just stopped closing the program, I keep it up full time so it wont change. Obviously not a fix but I am reduced to this because of MS BS
