Legitimate emails going to junk

Outlook is constantly sending legitimate emails to the junk folder. These are usually from new senders, so I can't fix it by adding their addresses—I don't know who they are ahead of time. I have tried to create rules to move things out of the junk folder automatically, or prevent emails with attachments from going to that folder, but they have no effect.

I don't mind checking the junk folder, but the problem is the Microsoft deletes junk emails after 10 days. Can I either get rid of the junk email folder (I'm happy to sort the emails myself), or have this time extended? This unwanted, unnecessary feature causes many more problems than it solves.

    Hi

    All my e-mails are going into the junk folder and I don’t know why, it happened last Friday nothing had changed at home but my e-mail s just started going into the junk folder and I don’t know why, they all use to go straight to my inbox but now everything goes to junk and some particular e-mails I’m not receiving at all, I’m using an I phone 16 pro and an I pad pro but I just don’t know why or how to get them back to normal again I’ve lost so much in work this last week as I’m not receiving the e-mails it’s driving me crazy please can someone help

    I have tried repeatedly to change the security and filtering applied to my outlook (hotmail) but MS still sends legitimate emails to junk. I have the highest setting for my email filtering, set many of the offending emails to safe and now I have made a new profile.

    After making the new profile, 90% of my emails went to junk! This sounds like MS is not employing good intelligence in the manner in which it allocates junk.

    If my email was not so important, I would simply move to Gmail as I have no such problems in their domain.

    No, I don't...but somehow (a Windows update maybe?) this problem disappeared. It was sending everything to junk for months and then it went back to normal.

    Just FWIW only!

    I used a 3rd party tool to 'extract' all sender-email addresses to a list.
    Then removed all text before the '@' (so only @domain.com is left)
    Then copied the list into Excel.

    Removed duplicates and imported the list into safe senders list.
    Suggest to check/tag the option "Automatically add people I email to ...."
