Legitimate emails going to junk

Outlook is constantly sending legitimate emails to the junk folder. These are usually from new senders, so I can't fix it by adding their addresses—I don't know who they are ahead of time. I have tried to create rules to move things out of the junk folder automatically, or prevent emails with attachments from going to that folder, but they have no effect.

I don't mind checking the junk folder, but the problem is the Microsoft deletes junk emails after 10 days. Can I either get rid of the junk email folder (I'm happy to sort the emails myself), or have this time extended? This unwanted, unnecessary feature causes many more problems than it solves.

In spite of all the fantastic AI developments, Outlook manages to simply sendlegitimate mails to the junk folder even though you are and have been exchanging mails to that domain on a regular basis...

So... you are sending and receiving mails from person1-at-insuranceompany.com

    Person1 is on holidays.
Person2-at-insuranceompany.com is sending an interim mail.

    Ah.. that's junk then!

(only to be 'discovered' almost a week later)

Apparently Outlook isn't 'smart' enough to automatically consider such mail to be 'normal', based on the previous mails.

My wife is just a simple end user and is using Outlook as it is. She doesn't go into Options or whatever.
As a simple end user, she had a simple question: "Why..?"

So is the answer, to this seemingly simple question, they know about it and can't fix it?

    We are not stupid.

I have two emails in my junk folder.

One sender is absolutely correctly in my safe sender folder. Doesn't matter.

The other is absolutely correctly in my blocked sender folder with instruction to permanently remove. Doesn't matter.

I have done everything correctly. Mark as not junk, never block, etc. etc. every day. Doesn't matter.

So again, is the answer they understand and can't fix it?

    Thanks.

    Legend !

I don't remember adding the affected email to that spam list, but there it was.

    Excellent spot, thanks so much!

    Hi Sola,

    Thanks for helping us.

You said we should mark senders as safe. How do I mark emails from people who have not yet emailed me and who I don’t know as safe?

    Cheers

    A lan
