Legitimate emails going to junk

Outlook is constantly sending legitimate emails to the junk folder. These are usually from new senders, so I can't fix it by adding their addresses—I don't know who they are ahead of time. I have tried to create rules to move things out of the junk folder automatically, or prevent emails with attachments from going to that folder, but they have no effect.

I don't mind checking the junk folder, but the problem is the Microsoft deletes junk emails after 10 days. Can I either get rid of the junk email folder (I'm happy to sort the emails myself), or have this time extended? This unwanted, unnecessary feature causes many more problems than it solves.

Please try again. It’s can be difficult trying to get them to understand and might require more than one effort but the more of us that report it, the better.

Tiers were not discussed nor offered. I am gob smacked at how unprofessional Microsoft is. If I wasn't so tied to the email, I would use another. They advertise intelligence but cannot direct simple emails to the rightful box. If I have the internal fortitude, I may try again with the stupid chat and request tier 3

My problem lasted for about six months...then it stopped. I still have no clue what started it or ended it? I'm just glad it is back to working normally.

Optimum is my Outlook provider. (I'm in New York) My email is Optonline.net. I had tried everything myself, played with all the 'Rules.' Nothing worked. Then I remembered I had a rarely used subscription to Geek Squad and called. They told me that Optimum had had a problem this morning but resolved it. Then he worked with my son, who understands these things. The result was the discovery that Optimum had made a mistake, probably when restoring service. Rather than marking emails A (inbox) or B (junk) it marked everything B. They fixed that and now it is working perfectly. If there is a Geek Squad near you... or simply called Best Buy in Yonkers (everything was done on the phone) and tell them the situation. It may cost a few bucks but as I wrote, it is back to normal.

I’m confused. Earlier you said you didn’t find a resolution, did you find one now? How did it work? I don’t know what Optimum is. I appreciate your help.
