New Outlook Not Syncing Read Status for Gmail

Hi, I'm running the new version of Outlook on Windows 11, and have connected to both my Uni (O365) and Gmail (Microsoft Cloud). O365 works fine, but the Gmail account doesn't sync read status back to gmail. I.e. outlook gets the correct read status from Gmail, and it syncs things like starring/flagging emails back to Gmail. But although I can mark things as read in Outlook, that status never syncs back to Gmail. The same is true on 3 different PCs, so it's not peculiar to one particular computer.

Any ideas?

    Not on my OS X client. It is really easy to verify. You send an email from outlook.com/yahoo.com to your Gmail account, read it on your OS X Outlook mail client, and then go to Gmail webmail to verify it is shown as read. For myself, the only problem is with the new Outlook mail client on Windows.

    To avoid the problem, I use the old Outlook mail client on Windows. It works correctly with all my other Outlook mail clients on Android, iOS, and OS X.

    Also experiencing this issue with New Outlook. Only certain accounts in our company, though. I set up my personal account to sync between Gmail and Outlook and it worked fine right away. However, not everyone has had that same experience, even after "resetting" all of their POP/IMAP configurations and double-checking SMTP.

    Edit: Another interesting tidbit is that the users having sync issues can load "Old Outlook" and the syncing is accurate

    Can confirm I have the same issue. Delete syncs fine, but the read status does not. Also confirmed IMAP is enabled on Gmail.
