Using classic Outlook for Windows in business environments
For what it's worth, this doesn't work for me (classic outlook on Mac, see above in thread for version numbers)

Hi, I'm running the new version of Outlook on Windows 11, and have connected to both my Uni (O365) and Gmail (Microsoft Cloud). O365 works fine, but the Gmail account doesn't sync read status back to gmail. I.e. outlook gets the correct read status from Gmail, and it syncs things like starring/flagging emails back to Gmail. But although I can mark things as read in Outlook, that status never syncs back to Gmail. The same is true on 3 different PCs, so it's not peculiar to one particular computer.
Any ideas?

In an earlier post, somebody recommended selecting two or more messages, right-click and mark them as unread, then right-click on them and mark them as read. I works for me, even if one of the two has already been marked as read on the gmail server.
Have anyone found the solutions to this annoying problem yet? I have to physically login to Gmail every few hours to clear the emails off as read.

I contacted MS Tech supported and shared the link to this thread to them. She said she would relay it to the Outlook product team.
