New Outlook Not Syncing Read Status for Gmail

Hi, I'm running the new version of Outlook on Windows 11, and have connected to both my Uni (O365) and Gmail (Microsoft Cloud). O365 works fine, but the Gmail account doesn't sync read status back to gmail. I.e. outlook gets the correct read status from Gmail, and it syncs things like starring/flagging emails back to Gmail. But although I can mark things as read in Outlook, that status never syncs back to Gmail. The same is true on 3 different PCs, so it's not peculiar to one particular computer.

Any ideas?

    I used to have this problem all the time but it's been working fine lately.

    I have removed and reconnected the Gmail account from outlook for windows and from outlook for Android. I think that helped.

    We've tried this same thing with a few of our users and it seemed to work for a day or two, then things would revert back to how they were. The fact that Microsoft hasn't even officially acknowledged that there's an issue here is annoying, and I've been using a different client entirely.

    I have the same issue.

    Seems that this has been reported 100's of times.

    => broken product, that is unlikely to be fixed.

    solution: Mozilla Thunderbird. Free to everyone!. No adverts.

    It goes beyond "help." It's simply deciding to put the resources into good design. I think Microsoft is too busy trying to capitalize on AI and neglecting their everyday workhorses.

    BTW, their AI stuff also has many problems. I asked Bing "does linux kernel have its own stack." In large boldface font it responded with "There is not a kernel stack." But when I asked "does linux kernel have stacks", it responded with "Yes, the Linux kernel has stacks." Simple AI? Flip a coin.
