Hi, I'm running the new version of Outlook on Windows 11, and have connected to both my Uni (O365) and Gmail (Microsoft Cloud). O365 works fine, but the Gmail account doesn't sync read status back to gmail. I.e. outlook gets the correct read status from Gmail, and it syncs things like starring/flagging emails back to Gmail. But although I can mark things as read in Outlook, that status never syncs back to Gmail. The same is true on 3 different PCs, so it's not peculiar to one particular computer.
Any ideas?

Not only does New Outlook not work correctly, it takes 700 - 800 MB of memory when running on my Windows 11 system, compared to 160 - 170 MB for Microsoft 365 Outlook. I'm a software engineer with over 50 years of experience. This is the first program I've ever seen that quadruples the amount of code, removes features, and breaks the program. Very sad.
If you subscribe to Microsoft 365 (used to be Office), I think that you should still have access to (old) Outlook. The free email client before New Outlook was Mail. Perhaps that's what you're thinking of? There's also an app named Outlook on the Webb, which used to called Outlook Web App or Outlook Web Access. And none of these should be confused with outlook.com, although Microsoft tries their best to confuse us with their naming. I have no idea why they keep changing the names. Very weird.
On my new Surface, I don't even have the Old Outlook available or I would have switched long ago
I have tried all of the things in this VERY LONG thread. None of them have worked.
Try removing the gmail account. Then add it back in. As I recall, there's a dialog asking you to give outlook permission to change things in the gmail account. You need to allow this.
BTW, I tend to restart my computer after each step when doing something like this. So I would: remove; restart computer; add; restart computer. I've been programming computers since the early 1960s. My reboot compulsiveness has helped me to solve many problems. :-)
