How do I add a background picture to the "Modern" theme in the new outlook that replaces the older mail app?

In the old Mail app I was able to add a custom background image. Since that app is going away I now have to use this version. the "modern" theme has a picture of a snow covered landscape. The options are that or nothing. There is no way to change the picture or add a picture of my choosing, even though the description says "Modern themes allow you to add a background image for further customization". How do I change this image, or add an image of my own?

    I've found the same thing. My company just changed over to Microsoft for our emails and I'm missing having my wood background. It's so boring to have this pale grey background, and I can't stand the stark black background. I need a dark in between. I would love it if we could get the option to add background images super soon. Also, I've had an outlook account for personal use for years (started with hotmail) and the themes haven't changed ever. Come on people...why can't we have newer options for the color schemes?? There's only about 3 options that are even slightly appealing to me and I'm just bored of them. I need new stuff. :)

    I'm dealing with the same issue. I like to have pictures of my favorite characters as my background while keeping the color theme Dark due to Light Theme being hard on my eyes. I'm certain they will force everyone to use the New Outlook without warning as a company usually does. It sucks.

    The "Moder Theme" It literally states you can add a background image. It does not provide further instructions on how to do so.

    fix this already. this is ridiculous.

    Same here. This has been available since like last year and never works. No way to set a custom background as it states.
