How do I add a background picture to the "Modern" theme in the new outlook that replaces the older mail app?

In the old Mail app I was able to add a custom background image. Since that app is going away I now have to use this version. the "modern" theme has a picture of a snow covered landscape. The options are that or nothing. There is no way to change the picture or add a picture of my choosing, even though the description says "Modern themes allow you to add a background image for further customization". How do I change this image, or add an image of my own?

    This is STILL an issue in Feb 2025. Not only can we not upload our own background photos, but the available ones also look like they are all AI generated. I do not need AI to generate a background for me - what a waste of resources. Please just let us upload our own photos and personalize the apps we use every day!

    I Agree. I always had one of my furrballs too. I still miss my little Houtan, and now I can't even put his photo as the wallpaper on Outlook.

    Well said. It's very important. I find the artificiality and saccharine images of 'nature' to be really disconcerting. Microsoft, please update this.

    you Microsoft doesn't care about what we want or enjoyed, and are lying about the settings and options presented in their product NO WAY!! They would NEVER do that?!

    Its a solid almost a year later and they have yet to resolve this issue. I hate the new outlook so so so much. They wont stop pushing it on us and every time I open my mail it goes back to it. I hope they resolve this because I WILL download a new mail app before I use microsofts ugly themes
