I do not get any verification codes sent to my email

My outlook email does not get any verification codes, I did all the basic things like checking my spam checking my blocked users and everything, nothing works. I recently got a pc and want to link my video game accounts from console to pc for example my Activison account, but when it tells me to verify my email by typing the code that was sent to my email I do not get any. I tested if it was with all emails by sending myself an email with a different email and I got it, it seems to not work when I need a verification code becuase I have tried with my epic account and my activision account and neither work. Please this is a serious issue, what if it was not video games, what if it was something more important like a bank account, I need this fixed as soon as possible please and thankyou.

I'm not sure if anyone else already mentioned this but it's the only thing it worked for me. This requires you can still login through other methods on the microsoft website, since in my case, i didn't get a verification code when it was "sent" through windows/xbox app/microsoft store.

  1. Go to your Microsoft Account on the browser
  2. Go to Security -> Manage logins

3- Add a new login method or verification

4- Select "Use an application". This are authentication apps, probably the safest option to have on your account.

After step 4 just follow the instructions it gives you, and next time you try to login, it will ask for the code in the authentication app instead. It will recommend using the Microsft Auth app, but you could use any other if you know about it.

Remember that if you do this, and want to change your phone later, you'll need to probably migrate the app to the new device, just investigate what you need to do after.

Well I created another Bluesky account that goes to an iCloud account, no issues there, so I have the correct email that it comes from and it’s in the safe senders . Bluesky support even confirmed it as well.

It’s ridiculous situation. I’m pretty sure it’s an outlook issue at this point, but outlook support are no help.

At this point I’m pretty given up on ever getting it rectified, it may some point in the future fix itself 🤷🏻‍♂️

Right. Outlook is filtering before it gets to junk folder. It's never in there.

Only thing I can suggest is their reset email is coming from a different domain than the one you have added to safe senders.

In the past I have setup an account with the third party using Gmail (which doesn't seem to as aggressively filter) and then perform a password reset and check the domain that is coming from, then add that to safe senders.

    Good luck!

Yeah I’ve done all the things. Even after it’s been added to the safe senders list it still doesn’t arrive.

There was two accounts I was having issues with one was activision. I contacted activision. They reset my account and then told me to delete all data, cookies etc. use an incognito browser when logging in and it worked. I then got my 2FA code for activision.

I tried the same with Bluesky as it was my other account that I wasn’t recieving 2FA codes from. It didn’t work.

Outlook support suggest something happened with my account when I cancelled my 365 subscription, so they suggested signing up for a month would fix it, it didn’t.

The problem is ppl revert to the default “they not checking the junk folder”. We are, this is like the last hope saloon.

    Thanks though

If you know the domain the reset email will come from you can add that to the safe senders list in (on web version of outlook) Settings > Mail > Junk Mail > + Add safe sender

It takes a minute to take effect, then you can try the password reset again. However, you do have to know in advance the domain the email will come from.
