Outlook 2013, which is up to date, keeps asking for my outlook.com password. I have already deleted Credentials as a fix was posted earlier. But it still didn’t not fix the constant request for password.

I created a new profile. Same problem. Could y create a new one because of constant request for password.

    This old school setup worked for me. For now, anyway. In Outlook 2013, go to

    -> File -> Account Settings -> (remove your account first, in order to re-create it)

    -> New

    -> Manual setup (bottom left radio button option)

    -> Next

    -> POP or IMAP

    -> Next

    -> enter 'Your name' & 'Email'

    -> Account Type: choose IMAP from the drop-down

    settings info as of this posting (https://www.getmailspring.com/setup/access-hotmail-com-via-imap-smtp)

    -> incoming mail server outlook.office365.com

    -> SMTP outgoing server imap.office365.com

    -> User name : [your complete email address] IMPORTANT - the system will auto-fill with your user name and delete the '@outlook.com', but this only works with your FULL EMAIL ADDRESS in the "User Name" field

    -> enter your password

    -> bottom right MORE SETTINGS

    -> tab: Outgoing Server: click on checkbox "My outgoing server requires authentication)

    -> tab: Advanced: Incoming server IMAP: SSL 993

    -> tab: Advanced: Outgoing server SMTP: TLS 587

    -> OK

    -> Next

    Now, you should get the "Test Account Settings" popup and (for me), both tests pass.

    If your OUTGOING test (the second one) doesn't pass, ensure that you entered your full email address in the outgoing settings under "User Name" (see IMPORTANT above) and check your password.

    I hope this helps someone. I love Outlook 2013, and have tried all the new versions and hated them all for various reasons.

    There has been no official responses and there is still no help... I'm used to just constantly entering the password... PITA, but so it is... And I'm running Windows 10 Pro with MS Office Outlook 2013. So it isn't exclusevly related to Windows 11.

    Just to chime in, but I am having exactly the same issue as Olli and raynerph have described. Fiddling with the registry, removing and adding the account again does not help. Removing the two step verification will solve the problem, but that is not what I want to do. After activating two step verification - the password popup has returned. Temporary fix for one "sessions" is to create a new app password and enter it... Just to repeat again on the next day. Sometimes when it pops up in the middle of the session, then as previous posters stated, clicking on the "Need password" button simply helps without enterying anything and the password field even doesn't show up - just connects to exchange server and that is it.

    Just in case - the account affected is an old hotmail.com account.

    Thanks, I have now decided to give up with Outlook2013. I have taken up Microsoft 365, to get a desktop Outlook. Some negatives doing this is on installing the new Office suite, it has removed Office 2013. Also the storage available is pushing for you to sync your Documents and Picture folders. I am not keen on this since Microsoft could delete all your hard disc files, if for some reason you stop syncing and opt for on-line storage only. Good look on finding a solution.

    Hi Dena,

    Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconveniences,

    To fix this issue, you can try the following methods:

    • Update your outlook.com account password in Outlook 2013. To do this, go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Select your outlook.com account and click Change. Enter your new password and click Next. Click Finish and restart Outlook 2013.
    • Use an app password for your outlook.com account in Outlook 2013. To do this, go to your outlook.com account settings and select Security > Advanced security options. Under App passwords, click Create a new app password. Copy the app password and go to Outlook 2013. Follow the same steps as above to change your account password, but use the app password instead of your regular password.
    • Repair your Outlook 2013 profile or create a new one. To do this, go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles. Select your Outlook 2013 profile and click Properties > Email Accounts > Repair. Follow the instructions to repair your profile. If that does not work, you can create a new profile by clicking Add and entering your outlook.com account details.
    • Update your Outlook 2013 to the latest version or switch to a newer version of Outlook. To do this, go to File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now. Follow the instructions to install the latest updates for Outlook 2013. If that does not work, you can switch to a newer version of Outlook, such as Outlook 2016 or Outlook 365, that supports modern authentication and security features for outlook.com accounts.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards, Sola
