Upgrading to new outlook will not accept IMAP accounts

Hi

trying to upgrade but when giving al the information of my IMAP connection the continue button is greyed out.

On another MS forum people are saying IMAP is not enabled yet, is that correct?

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature. You can check their blog posts and release notes for the latest updates on the new Outlook for Windows development.

    The ones that have always worked with classic outlook, thunderbird etc. and my isp are incoming 993, SSL/TLS, outgoing 587, STARTTLS. The only times new Outlook has made a successful connection (about a month ago as noted above), it does it for only one of my accounts per pc, not always the same one and never both together, and sets the port and connection type as follows: incoming the same, outgoing 465 and SSL/TLS. If I try to add my other imap account, neither of the ports or connection types work and it reverts to the same old behaviour of asking for a non-existent or unknown password (not the imap/smtp password).

    You're ahead of me. I have tried repeatedly on my own computer and new computers from clients. I have yet to make any IMAP account work.

    Sorry Marco, it's not outdated. New Outlook's behaviour is random. It now manages to open one of my two imap accounts (both are fine in Classic etc.etc.), but won't open both. Both accounts are with the same isp. Trying on a second machine, it managed to open the other account but won't open the first. I can't choose which account it opens, it has a mind of its own. Perhaps I should be pleased that it manages to open one account, but it remains unusable unless it opens both reliably on whatever machine I use. That is not yet the case. If anyone else is experiencing, has experienced, this bizarre behaviour and can add something helpful, I'd be grateful.
