Hey there, my name is Ajibola and I'm excited to help you today!

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature. Still, they have stated that they are listening to user feedback and prioritizing the most requested features https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/getting-started-with-the-new-outlook-for-windows-656bb8d9-5a60-49b2-a98b-ba7822bc7627. You can check their blog posts and release notes for the latest updates on the new Outlook for Windows development.

In the meantime, you can still use the classic Outlook for Windows app to access your IMAP account, or use a web browser to access your email provider's website. You can also switch back and forth between the new and classic Outlook for Windows apps by using the toggle switch at the top-right corner of the window.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to ask. I'm here to help!

    I feel your pain.

We've HAD Professional licenses, which worked (at least as well as Microsoft ever worked) until the last couple of weeks, when they - summarily and without warning - begin pulling Teams and OneDrive from our pre-existing, fully paid licenses, terminating access to functionality we (unwisely) constantly depended on for daily operations. The first time, it took several days to even figure out what they had done and to buy new licenses; the second time, we at least had that experience for a heads-up. Now we have constant, dire warnings that functionality on all our other MS apps will be terminated within weeks, so we dutifully bought new, updated licenses - which they don't even recognize as valid or existing. It's as though all they want is your money without bothering to provide and consideration, product, services, or even an argument in return.

I hope your (our) experience improves very soon. In the meantime, I'm looking for all reliable alteratives.

When you find another client, please let us know. Maybe Microsoft screwing up my system and apps is inevitable, but anything I can do to jettison their stranglehold and bust up their monopoly is a step in the right direction.

Why should I? There is nothing more helpful. Microsoft have pulled support for IMAP from the new Outlook and that's it. That's all we know.

If you have anything in mind for "more helpful" please feel free to make a suggestion. Otherwise perhaps adding your name to the list of people who are sick of Microsoft's conduct in this matter.
