Copy meetings from one calendar to another no longer supported

I'm using Outlook 365 on my Windows 11 PC, and the Outlook android app on my smartphone. On the PC, I have a work calendar, an association calendar, and a private one. The android app only has the private e-mail account and calendar (this is for security reasons). Until very recently, I have been able to copy meetings from the work and association calendars to the private one on my PC, so that they show up in my android Outlook app.

Microsoft has removed this functionality without warning. Outlook blocks copying meetings with “Copying meetings is not supported.” - Microsoft Support.

The workaround (involving editing the regsitry) works, but what is the long term solution?

You can right click on the calendar entry and select duplicate the event then select the other calendar you want to copy it to from the drop down on the right of the save button. You have to re-enter the meeting title though. Changing the registry doesn't seem to work for the new outlook.

It's the shortsided views like Jeremy's that permeate modern programming nowdays at Microsoft...and these same views are seen throughout all of the 'new' product updates/upgrades.

The sheer versatility of the MS Office suite of products helped to cement itself as the defacto standard. Users and admins alike had not been bound by a single developer's view of how a user interfaces and works with products day in and day out. The reduction in functionality and features in newer rollouts is going beyond frustrating.

I hope to retire before some developer thinks CNTL-C and CNTL-V are too archaic to allow in the next 'new' rollout of any product.

I found that if you use 'schedule view', so you can see one day with each calendar on a separate row, you can copy and paste an appointment across easily - if the appt is a series, it copies the whole series. Very useful.

This only works if you want to MOVE the meeting from one calendar to another. It doesn't create a duplicate onto the 2nd calendar. In the new outlook, you can use the "duplicate" feature and unfortunately that resends the invite to everyone in the meeting.

There are a lot of features no longer available that have huge impact on organizations.
