Cannot import .ics file into Outlook (new) app

Hi,

I am having several problems with my outlook (new) app.

  1. I cannot import .ics files into the app as no calendar is available in the "Upload from file" window. I have verified that Outlook (new) is the default for .ics files.
  2. I cannot sync my Outlook app calendar on my laptop with my Calendar app on my Iphone 10. I get an error message when I try to sync it via Icloud.

PS: I am using a gmail account for my outlook.

Any suggestions?

    Support memeber is answering question for WRONG OUTLOOK VERSION. AS MOST DONT EVEN REALIZE OUTLOOK (NEW) REPLACES MAIL AND CALENDER. AND NOT THE SAME AS OUTLOOK (OFFICE/365 or classic)..

    THERE IS NO RULE ASSOC THAT WORKS WHEN DOUBLE CLICKING OR OPENING FROM FILE EXPLORER ETC.

    THAT METHOD DOES NOT LET YOU SELECT THR CALANDER TO IMPORT TO. (GRAYED OUT) SO YOU CANT SELECT IMPORT BUTTON AS IT REMAINS GREYED OUT UNTIL YOU SELECT A CALENDAR (WHICH YOU CAN'T)

    THESE GUYS ARE NO HELP.

    Perhaps you might consider that in a thread with as many as 11 pages, where in the course of nearly a whole year, 89 people have clicked the original post to say they have the same problem, and several people have posted well-informed and tested work-arounds, but no one has found a genuine fix for the issue, then it is probably not useful for you to copy and paste instructions that you have not tested yourself, and that do not work. Other users are likely to find your post unhelpful and frustrating. I do not expect a reply to this post, and I am probably not the only forum user who would prefer you to desist from further participation in the thread.

    For users who would like a useful work-around, my post of 25th November 2024 may be of some help.

    I will repeat the steps here:

    1. Create new draft email (no recipient required, don't send it)
    2. Attach the .ics file
    3. Hit the drop-down arrow on the attachment
    4. Select 'Add to calendar'
    5. Discard the draft email

    With a Mac the only method that works as I showed about a year ago, is to download the ICS file, the LOG INTO THE CLOUD version, and import THERE - that will work, it wont work on the desktop client.

    One thing that worked for me is to SUBSCRIBE to the calendar, rather than opening it directly. You can upload the .ics file somewhere, and then copy the link into Agenda -> Add Agenda -> Subscribe via Internet.

    So, bear in mind this is a true workaround so it is circuitous and annoying by nature....

    1. Download the .ics file.
    2. Create a new email in outlook to yourself.
    3. Attach the downloaded .ics file.
    4. Send to yourself. (Note about how annoying it is you have to do this optional.)
    5. Open your new mail and click on the .ics attachment.
    6. Click "+Add To Calendar" in the window that pops up.
    7. Actually get notifications about your meetings...

    Good luck.

    Microsoft....please sort out this issue.

    This is the only thing that worked for me.
