Cannot import .ics file into Outlook (new) app

Hi,

I am having several problems with my outlook (new) app.

  1. I cannot import .ics files into the app as no calendar is available in the "Upload from file" window. I have verified that Outlook (new) is the default for .ics files.
  2. I cannot sync my Outlook app calendar on my laptop with my Calendar app on my Iphone 10. I get an error message when I try to sync it via Icloud.

PS: I am using a gmail account for my outlook.

Any suggestions?

Best, Finn

    Hello Finn,

So that there is no misunderstanding, this is a public user-to-user support forum. We are users, just like you, who help other users. We do not have access to any user accounts.

From your post, I understand that you need assistance with importing .ics files in the Outlook new application.

Kindly try the steps below to resolve this issue:

    1. Open Outlook > Go to the default calendar
    2. Click on file > Open.
    3. Select import/ export file.
    4. Under import/ export wizard select import an icalendar file.
    5. Select the file to be import from the saved location.
    6. Check with the outlook default calendar.

Also, you can try the steps below:

    1. Download the ICS file
    2. In the file explorer, navigate to the file and right click
    3. Open with > New Outlook (with the letters 'PRE' on the icon)
    4. Select which calendar to add the event to and confirm

After doing this once, opening the ICS file directly allows me to add it to my calendar.

    Sincerely,

    Soji.

    Hi Soji,

    many thanks.

I couldn't find the File option in New Outlook. I therefore switched back to old outlook. However, it seems that i thereby lost all calendar entries which I created under New Outlook. That shouldn't be the case, no? Can you advise?

Also, under the old outlook, my outlook calendar does not sync to the calendar on my iphone. can you advise?

Should I use old or new outlook? Old outlook has problems with syncing with phone, new outlook has problems importing calendar entries. So neither is working properly.

    Many thanks, Finn

    Hello Finn,

I am sorry for the issue you are having with the new Outlook and Classic Outlook.

Kindly check the Deleted Items folder for the missing calendars.

If they are not in the Deleted Items folder, please check your archive.

If they are not in any of the folders, you might have to select Recover Deleted Items or click this link https://www.diskinternals.com/outlook-recovery/recover-deleted-outlook-calendar/ and follow the steps.

You can also log into Outlook on the web and see if the calendars are there.

    On the issue of synchronization.

    1. Ensure that Outlook on both devices is updated to the latest version.
    2. Confirm that both devices are connected to the same network and you are signed in with the same Microsoft account on both devices.
    3. Ensure that your calendar is set to sync on both devices.

It is good to note that the product team is working tirelessly to improve on the functionality of the new Outlook.

    Regards, Rita.

Hi Rita, Many thanks.I still cannot import .ics files into my new outlook calendar as no calendar can be selected. See screenshotA couple of follow up questions on your advice:

    1. How would I know what file name to look for for the missing calendar?
    2. Which "deleted items folder" are you referring to? Under Outlook mail? This folder only contains deleted emails. The same for "archive".

What should I do?many thanks, Finn
