Cannot import .ics file into Outlook (new) app

Here it is with screenshots:

1. Download the ICS file and save it (do not open it) - remember to which folder you save it. This is how the options appear in the Microsoft Edge browser (other browsers will look different, but the idea is the same: Save the file, do not open it).

2. Open that folder, and right-click on the ICS file.

Click on "Open with" and then scroll down to and select (click on): Outlook (new) 4. Select which calendar to add the event to (you might have only one calendar, but you still need to select it). First click on the drop-down arrow, you will then see your account email address with Calendar below that—click on Calendar.

5. After you select your calendar, click Import.

There are other methods to accomplish this task, but this is the simplest (easiest) for me.

Same issue here, I cannot select a calendar when I open the .ics file with new Outlook, This workaround to send the calendar invitation to my own e-mail address was successful. Thanks for the creative solution! Now MS needs to figure out why I cannot select a calendar when I open the original .ics file

I tried the above mail-to-yourself workaround using the new Outlook for Mac app and got the same error message: "Sorry we couldn't import some of your file(s). Please try again later."

:-(

So, bear in mind this is a true workaround so it is circuitous and annoying by nature....

1. Download the .ics file.
2. Create a new email in outlook to yourself.
3. Attach the downloaded .ics file.
4. Send to yourself. (Note about how annoying it is you have to do this optional.)
5. Open your new mail and click on the .ics attachment.
6. Click "+Add To Calendar" in the window that pops up.
7. Actually get notifications about your meetings...

I'm having the exact same issue with the new outlook. There is no calendar to select when you import an ICS.

Slight modification to your work around is to open a new email message, drop the ics in as an attachment, and then from the ics attachment, clieck the down arrow and choose "Add to Calendar". This just saves the step of emailing it to yourself.

I have tried all of these tips, using the new (Jan 2024) Outlook for Mac, and have had no success adding my google calendar. Dragging and dropping the .ics file initially seems to work, but when I select "import" I get the following error message: "Sorry we couldn't import some of your file(s). Please try again later." I have tried again multiple times across two days.

I WAS able to add it in the browser and iPhone app versions, it's just the new Outlook for Mac that is still unable to add it.
