PS: I am using a gmail account for my outlook.
Any suggestions?

The email to yourself workaround worked for me. How silly. ****!!!??? Why is there no IMPORT ICS function on the new outlook calendar? There's no FILE option. Nothing. Who the heck designs this stuff?
This doesnt work from Mac Outlook
To import on Mac you need to mail to yourself and ON THE CLOUD VERSION at outlook.com, do above, then it will work, but not from the Mac client.
Spam, spam and more spam, the only thing MS seems good at is spamming replies to important emails I have sent everything else gets through.
We need to have the new version of outlook fixed, since Microsoft's stated direction is to use the "New Outlook" exclusively soon.
We need to all report the useability issues with the "new outlook", so that they all get addressed before the deadline.
What if you do not use outlook for e-mail?
THANK YOU! This issue has wasted far too much of my time, but your solution fixed the problem in about 30 seconds. So far, this new Outlook isn't worth the trouble...
So, bear in mind this is a true workaround so it is circuitous and annoying by nature....
- Download the .ics file.
- Create a new email in outlook to yourself.
- Attach the downloaded .ics file.
- Send to yourself. (Note about how annoying it is you have to do this optional.)
- Open your new mail and click on the .ics attachment.
- Click "+Add To Calendar" in the window that pops up.
- Actually get notifications about your meetings...
Good luck.
Microsoft....please sort out this issue.
