Hotmail keeps asking for my password. My password was correct. I still changed it. It keeps asking for my password nevertheless. Not only is it very annoying but it also keeps me from using my iPhone properly because that pop-up blocks me all the time I have read some of the answers you have given to people with the same problem. You only answer by asking questions. Every time they answer your question you ask another question. So no answer to be found anywhere. Just more and more questions. If you have to ask me questions, please ask them all at once. I really don’t have time for ping-pong. Thank you.

    None of the solutions suggested in this thread work for me at all. I'm using a Hotmail account in Office 2021 in Windows 10.

    The registry settings suggested by Asbjørn- do nothing. I assume they only work for Office 2013.

    It is not possible to add my Hotmail accounts as any other type than IMAP. When I click any of the other buttons when adding an account it just comes up with an error. I can't remember the error code now, but it isn't an error code that is mentioned anywhere on the internet that I can find.

    The only way it will accept an account is by selecting IMAP. And then it asks repeatedly for my password. The weird thing is, sometimes it works and syncs my emails, but that is a very small minority of the time.

    Edit: it does work as POP but that's useless because my subfolders are all missing.

    I have also had this problem, I think it is something to do with modern autentication, I have wasted so much time on this that my next move will be to use Thunderbird, which works fine on another old PC.

    I hope MS will accept ownership and fully address this problem, but rather think they just want us to go the 365 route or spend lots of money (I don't have) upgrading everything.

    Like your self I've tried all of the above without success.

    Microsoft I’m sure is trying to push everyone down the Office 365 route so they get a monthly subscription charge.

    I’ve gone down the route of just signing in via Google, less fuss and no monthly charge.

    I'm surprised to see so many people are experiencing the same annoying problem. It seems to me it's issue(s) with Microsoft software, rather than anybody trying to hack my account everyday which is protected by passwords consisting of 20 digit random alphanumeric and special characters. It's getting worse to the point I'm prompted to change password every day. If Microsoft cannot solve this inconvenience, probably I'll be forced to ditch my 30 year old hotmail account. BTW of course I needed to change my password to post this reply.
