I have this problem - Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password - and i think it is a growing World wide Microsoft problem :-(

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...
They both have this error.
I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(
Please help me.

This is not resolved. App passwords still do not work with Outlook 2013
Well my hopes after the newly marked resolved were unfounded.
This morning was a bad a s ever, with continuous prompts for both my accounts in office 2013.

If you are using Outlook 2013, please check what version you are on (File, Office Account, About Outlook) . There are minimum required versions that got updated to work with two-step verification and app password, New minimum Outlook for Windows version requirements for Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Community Hub.
Outlook 2013 need to be at least at version 15.0.4971.1000. To make sure you don't get impacted again enable Windows to install the updates for you. Go to Settings, Windows Update, Advanced Options and enable Microsoft Update. This will ensure you have all the Outlook 2013 or 2016 updates.
I'm using Outlook 12.0.5603.1000 and still having issue
